Black and White People

Image

There is no such thing as different between black and white.

We are all just different shades of brown.

One race is not better any than the other.

We all breathe the same air, live under the same sky.

I’m so sick of all the pathetic discrimination and hatred over stupid stuff like the music people listen to and the way people dress.

Why cant people realize that we’re all equal?

That we’re just HUMANS.

10 Ways to Conquer Boredom (and Feeling Too Busy)

20070909-bored.png

Boredom and feeling too busy are the same problem. Some people might claim I’m being too ambitious trying to strike down chronic boredom and busyness at the same time. I’d argue that the only way to take them out is simultaneously.

The problem stems from how you manage your attention. Both boredom and busyness stem from feeling there is a lack of quality in what is covering your attention. Boredom is feeling that there are too few high quality ways to spend attention. Busyness is forced boredom. This means that you feel there are high quality ways to spend attention, but your attention is being stolen from you before you can use it.

Boredom (and Busyness) is in Your Mind

Feelings of boredom and busyness are entirely subjective. You can’t look out in the world and claim it is busy or boring. To say these feelings are subjective is obvious, but that misses a key point. The real problem is quality.

Being engaged, neither busy or bored, happens when your attention is filled with a high quality source.

You can probably remember times when you were completely engaged. This could have been working on a project you were passionate about. Spending time with your family, sky diving or vacationing under the sun. Why were you engaged in these moments and not in others?

I’d like to state that the reason was because those experiences had a higher quality. This sense of quality you might consider entirely mental, entirely based on your surroundings or some combination of the two. Or possibly your entire reality if you’ve readZen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (which, I must admit, inspired most of these ideas).

Conquering Boredom and Busyness is About Improving Quality

So how do you improve quality in your experiences? I believe there are two major ways you can do it, externally and internally. But if you chronically experience busyness (not just being busy, but actively disliking the busyness) or boredom then you would probably need to tackle to problem from both ends.

Here are some ways to consider improving quality in your experiences:

Externally:

  1. Plan Ahead – Schedule your life to ensure there aren’t huge gaps or compressions later. This can mean scheduling high quality experiences if you find yourself frequently bored. It can also mean dividing large projects if you find yourself chronically busy.
  2. Win-Win – If you must perform an activity you think has low quality, that’s suboptimal. Find ways to reorganize your life so that jobs, chores and duties can become interesting high-quality experiences.
  3. Prioritize – I know it’s been said before, but if you don’t manage time you will never have enough of it. There are always more things to do than you have time for. If that weren’t the case, time would be a meaningless concept. Get your values straight so that the highest priorities are handled first and your life doesn’t get overtaken by the unimportant.
  4. Put Quality of Experience First – It is easy to get caught up in external goals that don’t fulfill their promises. Focus on goals that will give you a greater quality, not just a bigger paycheck or more status to brag about.
  5. Escape the Motions – Habits are a part of your life, but don’t let them become the only thing. Break out of your patterns if they aren’t giving you what you need.

Internally:

Most of the ways to improve your quality of experience and conquer boredom are internal. Less what you’re doing, but how.

  1. Build an Inner World – I’m not suggesting you create a complete rift between yourself and reality. But also realize that if you can’t find quality in your immediate surroundings, you can find it within yourself. Traversing the environment inside your own head can be a means to compensate for any temporary lack. Solving internal problems, reviewing knowledge, coming up with new ideas, creating stories or even planning for the future are all areas you can explore in the mind without any external stimulus.
  2. Seek Quality in the Now – What are you doing right now? What can you find that has quality for you. Remember quality is what you like. It is whatever you find interesting, challenging, pleasing or otherwise mentally satisfying. If you ask yourself this question you can usually come up with an answer. Seeking quality right now allows you to find it even if your environment is bare or overloaded.
  3. Resistance is Futile – Busyness and boredom could also be described as symptoms of resisting what is. Fully accepting whatever situation you are in and making the most of it is one way to conquer the feelings. Resistance is something that can’t be done half-way. Either completely push away and seek quality elsewhere, or accept your surroundings and find it here.
  4. Unchain Yourself – A lot of mental unease is caused because you feel forced to do something. You have to go to work. You have to study for your test. You have to do this or that. Realize that you don’t have to do anything, just accept different results. Freedom is in your mind.
  5. Stop – Boredom and feeling overloaded are both patterns. They are mental spirals you run on yourself that loop back on each other. If you just interrupt yourself for a few minutes and think more deeply about the problem you can often come up with a good answer independent of these suggestions. Stop and conquer.

HAPPYNESS

Willa Cather: “That is happiness; to be dissolved into something completely great.”

Kalidasa: “Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!”

How to Live in a Studio Apartment

There are many advantages to living in studio apartments, if they fit your lifestyle. They’re the perfect place for people who require just a little space to call home. They’re a great option if you’re on a budget, just starting out on your own, or wanting to cut back on expenses and save money. Whatever your reason, opting to downsize and live in a studio apartment will save you money in the long run.

Things You’ll Need

  • Microwave
  • Toaster
  • Toaster oven
  • Mini refrigerator
  • Coffee pot
  • Futon
  • Sofa bed

Instructions

  1. Finding a Studio Apartment

    • 1

Look for a studio apartment in large apartment complexes and extended-living hotels. They can also be found in private homes, where they may be referred to as a bungalow. They may or may not have a separate kitchen area. Be sure to ask if the apartment has kitchen facilities.

    • 2

Keep in mind that one advantage of renting a studio in an apartment complex or even in extended-living hotels is that as a resident, you’ll have access to any amenities provided, such as a pool, tennis court, on-site gym and club house.

    • 3

Don’t buy furniture until you’ve seen the space you’ll be renting. Living in a studio requires much less furniture than a regular apartment. Also, because it is smaller in square footage, the utility bill will be less. In some apartment communities, utilities are included in the rent, so this can be another money-saving advantage.

    • 4

Research whether there are washer/dryer facilities available, whether the apartment is wired for cable (and if not, can it be installed), whether there is any additional storage space available, whether they provide room-cleaning service (for extended-stay communities), what is the policy for cooking in your apartment (for studio apartments that do not have any kitchen facilities) and, if applicable, whether pets are allowed.

Furnishing and Decorating a Studio Apartment

    • 5

Start with the floor space. There are three main items to decide on: a bed, dresser and sofa. To utilize the space to its fullest, select a pull-out sofa bed. If you opt for an actual bed, consider a day bed or futon that can be used as a sofa. If you choose a traditional bed and opt not to have a sofa, consider adding a good recliner, rocking chair or any comfortable chair as a second place to relax. You will also need a dresser for your clothes. If the apartment has a large walk-in closet, an option would be to put the dresser in the closet. To add a little privacy and to break up the room, a decorative folding screen can be set up between the bed and chairs. The screen will also add another bit of “wall” space.

    • 6

Determine what other pieces of furniture are important to you and can be used to serve multiple purposes. Set up the dresser wherever possible, if it won’t fit in the closet. The dresser top can be used to hold a lamp or a TV. If you put up book shelves, these can be used to hold a variety of items. A small drop-leaf table with folding chairs can be used as a work area; TV trays can be used as a desk to hold a lap top or for take out. A small desk can be used for a computer, and a small media center for a TV, DVD player and sound system.

    • 7

Consider buying a small apartment refrigerator, microwave, toaster, toaster oven and coffee pot. The refrigerators available are small and compact, but they hold quite a few items. The other items are good to have if you want the option of fixing your own quick meal or heating up take-out food. Keep in mind that the studio apartment will most likely not have a regular kitchen sink, so keep a supply of plastic plates, cups and utensils handy and toss them out when you’re finished. To save space, consider a wall clock instead of one that requires a table top, and use floor lamps instead of table lamps.

    • 8

Use the bathroom to store more items. Purchase shelving that fits behind the door. These shelves can be used to store sheets, pillow cases, towels and washcloths. Shelving that fits over the toilet tank can also be used to store items. Purchase a clothes hamper that uses a clip to hang the hamper from the back of the door to save space.

    • 9

Utilize your closet space as much as possible. Use plastic interlocking storage containers to stash shoes, purses, socks and other items. Store seasonal clothing, blankets and comforters in large rectangle plastic containers and flat containers that slide under the bed.

Tips & Warnings

  • The keys to living in a studio apartment are creativity, organization and the ability to find the best ways to utilize every possible living space and wall area to its fullest.

School After Summer Vacation

Hey Everyone! Another school year is right around the corner.

Where did you spend your summer vacation?

There is no vacation that never ends, the children go back to school, the teachers returned to teach at the school, parents are busy to prepare everything necessary for back to school too, search for new books, new stationery, new backpacks, lunchbox, everyone is busy.

Basically for certain things everyone is the same whether they are children or adults, let say about working time, just before the weekend most adults have waited impatiently for the coming weekend and will feel lazy to go back to work on Monday. Similarly, children will wait for the weekend and feel lazy if they must go back to school and always felt very short vacation. It is very humane.

For some parents towards the new school year and children will go back to school will become a problem and an obstacle which must be overcome very soon and all that’s for sure there is a way out. It is very common if the child will feel lazy to go back to school because nearly all children experience such a thing. They feel the boredom of the days they faced for years with the same activity and always met with the same people, very boring.

But the go back to school cases, not all the same. Every child may have different problems with different levels. There are problems that occur in themselves and there is also a problem that occurs because other people or their friends. If it happens to themselves the possibility of the child have low self-esteem problems, fear of something, feel ashamed, embarrassed and many other things associated with self-distrust.

But if the problem occurs because of someone else, it must be asked of the child in detail and to look for the cause because if you do not know the cause, the child could bring the problem into adulthood and if that happens will cause very bad effects for his future. And by the time they will go back to school is a very stressful time and if the tension continues will lead to poor health both physically and mentally.

Best thing about summer

What’s the best thing about summer?

Most people would answer differently than me. Don’t get me wrong, I like sunshine and warmth; I love being able to wake up in the morning and sleep so late in the evening; I love going somewhere i havent been into with my friends. Oh! I love getting my hopes up about shaping up to the gym but then not going because I have no one to go with.

I love watching TV shows and films. I’m not a fan of TVD (The Vampire Diaries) but I find its concept very interesting.I like doing extreme sports! Who doesn’t like skateboarding? I still remember the time when i broke my right arm because i bumped into the wall hahaha. I love reading as well. I have actually read the first season of TVD (only borrowed that book to a cousin) and The Fallen( written by Sniegoski).
Taking a break to studying relaxes me. I’m a BSBA (Business Administration Student), by the way. I get tired of studying that easily when it comes to problem solving (Mathematics, Accounting).
I love cooking! I enrolled to a school and took up HRM before I enrolled as a Business Admin. student. I dont know what came in to my mind why I chose that course. Oh well, BSBA is interesting though. I would probably choose to do some paperworks over dishwashing, house cleaning etc….

3 weeks left before the class starts. I’m hoping to get an average not less than 1.50. I want to be a scholar to get a discount on my high tuition fee.
